The Krembil Foundation supports various aspects of medical research, education and social services. Our goal is to support projects, with a start and end that allow us to evaluate efficacy. The Foundation makes grants for charitable purposes only; and only to organizations that have been issued a Registered Charity Number under the Income Tax Act of Canada. The Foundation only supports organizations that are based within Canada. In general, the Krembil Foundation does not support the following types of requests: - General administration costs
- Operating costs
- Deficit financing
- Endowments, or capital campaigns
- General fundraising
- Construction of new or existing facilities
- Grants to private individuals
We request that each organization submit a “Request for Proposal” letter. Please make sure you also include your Canada Customs and Revenue Agency charitable registration number. The “request for proposal” letter should not exceed more than 2 pages and should include the following information: - A brief description of the organization’s history and purpose
- Outline of the proposed funding project
- An estimate of the total project budget
- The total amount requesting from the Krembil Foundation and over what time period (if you are requesting a multi-year commitment)
If the organizations “Request for Proposal” letter is chosen for further consideration, the organization will be requested to submit a Full Funding Proposal. Organizations that receive an invitation to complete a Full Funding Proposal are not necessarily guaranteed funding. Grant applications are accepted throughout the year; however the Foundation does require a minimum of two months of preparation to work on proposals prior to each Board Meeting. The Foundation’s Board of Directors convenes twice a year (May and November) to make final decisions on all grant proposals. Please note, The Krembil Foundation carefully reviews and researches every request that falls into the foundation mandate. An unfavourable decision by the foundation does not reflect the importance or significance of the project request; it is the result of having the difficult task of choosing from amongst the many worthwhile requests sent to the foundation.
